A Witch Alone by Marian Green Summary

You don't have to belong to a coven to practice magic. You may prefer to walk the magical path alone, connecting to a rich and ancient heritage of solo magic users. The wise woman, the druid, the hermit, the wizard, and the shaman all connect to their magical energy in a "group" of one. With only yourself to rely on, magic becomes an introspective act. Commune with nature on your own and form a deeper, stronger connection with the stars, the sun, and the moon. A Witch Alone is a valuable guide, full of lessons and spells for the solo Wiccan. Each chapter examines a different part of the pagan path, including information about herbs, the Healing Arts, Moon Magic and Solar Cycles, and recovering the "Old Ways." If you're intent on walking your path alone, A Witch Alone is the only companion you'll need for the journey.

The ways of magic are revealed in nature . . . The secrets are written in meandering streams and drifting clouds, whispered by the roaring ocean and cooling breeze, echoed through caves and rocks and forests. When you draw a heart in the sand, call on the four winds for assistance, or ask the rain to wash away a bad habit, you are practicing earth magic. By working in harmony with nature, we can transform ourselves, our lives, and our world. This tried-and-true guide offers more than one hundred spells, rites, and simple rituals you can perform using the powerful energy of the earth. Witchcraft Demonology and Magic by Marina Montesano Summary

Witchcraft and magic are topics of enduring interest for many reasons. The main one lies in their extraordinary interdisciplinarity: anthropologists, folklorists, historians, and more have contributed to build a body of work of extreme variety and consistence. Of course, this also means that the subjects themselves are not easy to assess. In a very general way, we can define witchcraft as a supernatural means to cause harm, death, or misfortune, while magic also belongs to the field of supernatural, or at least esoteric knowledge, but can be used to less dangerous effects (e.g., divination and astrology). In Western civilization, however, the witch hunt has set a very peculiar perspective in which diabolical witchcraft, the invention of the Sabbat, the persecution of many thousands of (mostly) female and (sometimes) male presumed witches gave way to a phenomenon that is fundamentally different from traditional witchcraft. This Special Issue of Religions dedicated to Witchcraft, Demonology, and Magic features nine articles that deal with four different regions of Europe (England, Germany, Hungary, and Italy) between Late Medieval and Modern times in different contexts and social milieus. Far from pretending to offer a complete picture, they focus on some topics that are central to the research in those fields and fit well in the current “cumulative concept of Western witchcraft” that rules out all mono-causality theories, investigating a plurality of causes.

13 Moons by Lauren Ostara Summary

This book is for the seekers who are interested in the ancient arts, the old path, the one that travels within your veins and through your ancestral lineage. The path is known as Witchcraft. This is not a book on Wicca or new age Witchcraft, these new aspects of the craft have been served well in recent years. I have found a huge gap missing in the teachings going out about ancestral Witchcraft perhaps this is because we are a pretty secretive bunch! These ancient ways come from deep within you, there is no need for elaborate stages and hierarchies. The ancient ways can be practised every day as you go about your day. We don't need to set up high fluting rituals in order to commune with the Goddess and God, they are with us always. Of course at Solstices and other sacred days, it's great to have a beautiful ritual where you go alone or get the family involved but it is not necessary. All you need is yourself, the knowing to connect to the Great Ones (and others) and a connection to nature. The rest well, it's magic....

Psychic Self Defense by Dion Fortune Summary

A new edition of an occult classic, which includes a new introduction by Mary K. Greer, author of Women of the Golden Dawn, and a new afterword with excerpts from rarely seen documents by Fortune herself describing how the book came about. After finding herself the subject of a powerful psychic attack in the 1930s, famed British occultist Dion Fortune wrote this detailed instruction manual on protecting oneself from paranormal attack. This classic psychic self-defense guide explains how to understand the signs of a psychic attack, vampirism, hauntings, and methods of defense. Everything you need to know about the methods, motives, and physical aspects of a psychic attack and how to overcome it is here, along with a look at the role psychic elements play in mental illness and how to recognize them. This is one of the best guides to detection and defense against psychic attack from one of the leading occult writers of the twentieth century.
