We battle the real monsters of myth and legend, but this Halloween, we’re searching for diamonds… A gala opening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art has attracted the upper crust of Manhattan—and thieves. A trio of vile harpies attacks the crowd and steals the stars of the exhibition: a colorful cluster of seven cursed diamonds known as the Dragon Eggs. In the right mage’s hands, each stone can pack a magical wallop. Together they have the power to “cure” the supernaturals of the tristate area—but for many of those vampires and werewolves, that means turning into dust. I’m Makenna Fraser, a seer for SPI. The International Dragon Conspiracy by George Buford Summary

Morris the Jewish wizard and this traveling companion, Trog the troll, enter a country where the king has his police grabbing and torturing people to make them confess that theyre part of what he believes is the International Dragon Conspiracy. There is a real dragon, one who keeps burning large areas of the kings land and burning any knights who come after him. Morris and Trog, who are traveling to a distant land to meet the wizard who controls the great dragon of Alhambra, decide that a good way to get money for their trip is to get rid of this dragon and claim the reward. A problem develops, however, in that the dragon turns out to be a nice fellow named Zil who is only burning things because he has serious allergy problems that make him spray fire whenever he sneezes. Morris cures Zils allergies, but knowing that the king will have Zil killed if they take him back, Morris, Trog, and Zil make a run for it and escape from the kingdom. Morris needs to disguise Zil. Trog can be passed off as merely a large, hairy man, but Zil is obviously a dragon. A cooperative tailor who believes that being a dragon is merely a valid alternative lifestyle, provides Zil with a monks robe that covers him from head to toe. While camping one night, they meet Ezzie, a runaway servant girl. Ezzie sees Zil uncovered, but Morris convinces her that Zil is really a good and noble monk who was cursed by an evil wizard. Ezzie joins them in their journey and becomes Trogs lover. She eventually learns the truth about both Zil and Trog, but accepts them for what they are. At a chapel in the middle of a large cemetery one night, Morris encounters a beautiful young woman who has gone into a coma called false death. At the urging of her lover, Morris performs a ceremony to raise her from false death; unfortunately, he also accidentally raises all the real dead in the cemetery. Zombies start digging their way out of the graves. Morris and the others make a dash down the hill to the nearest village to warn them that the zombies are coming. With the help of some ancient books on black magic, Morris manages to get rid of the zombies--but its a close call. Farther on, they enter a large forest and come to a village that that is plagued by vampires. The woman who runs the inn where Morris and his friends are staying is horrified, because her daughter is in love with a vampire boy. The boy is a vegetarian; unfortunately, the boys father is not. With a combination of his silver tongue and his wizard skills, along with help from Zil, Morris manages to unite the boy and girl while dealing with the vampire father. In yet another village, Morris and his friends encounter a man who turns into a werewolf at every full moon. The man, knowing that Morris is a wizard, pleads with him for help. Morris studies the problem and manages to cure him--but not at in the way the man was expecting. Later, while staying at an inn, Morris and the others meet three young witches who have accidentally called up Satan and need Morris to help send him back. Thats fine with Satan; he wants to be sent back, but no one can figure out how. Finally, they call up Satans wife, Lillith, and she uses her knowledge to send both Satan and herself back to their realm. Finally, Morris and his friends come to the end of their journey, a meeting with the wizard who controls the great dragon of Alhambra. The wizard proves to be the local baron. He also proves to be power crazed and insane. After dealing with him, Morris and the others climb a nearby volcanic mountain and go into a cave where the meet the great dragon himself. The dragon is grateful to them for freeing him from the grip of the wizard, but what he grants them is not quite what they were looking for when they started their journey

The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan Summary

A prescient warning of a future we now inhabit, where fake news stories and Internet conspiracy theories play to a disaffected American populace “A glorious book . . . A spirited defense of science . . . From the first page to the last, this book is a manifesto for clear thought.”—Los Angeles Times How can we make intelligent decisions about our increasingly technology-driven lives if we don’t understand the difference between the myths of pseudoscience and the testable hypotheses of science? Pulitzer Prize-winning author and distinguished astronomer Carl Sagan argues that scientific thinking is critical not only to the pursuit of truth but to the very well-being of our democratic institutions. Casting a wide net through history and culture, Sagan examines and authoritatively debunks such celebrated fallacies of the past as witchcraft, faith healing, demons, and UFOs. And yet, disturbingly, in today's so-called information age, pseudoscience is burgeoning with stories of alien abduction, channeling past lives, and communal hallucinations commanding growing attention and respect. As Sagan demonstrates with lucid eloquence, the siren song of unreason is not just a cultural wrong turn but a dangerous plunge into darkness that threatens our most basic freedoms. Praise for The Demon-Haunted World “Powerful . . . A stirring defense of informed rationality. . . Rich in surprising information and beautiful writing.”—The Washington Post Book World “Compelling.”—USA Today “A clear vision of what good science means and why it makes a difference. . . . A testimonial to the power of science and a warning of the dangers of unrestrained credulity.”—The Sciences “Passionate.”—San Francisco Examiner-Chronicle

Structophis by Joseph R. Lallo Summary

Structophis is a heartwarming YA adventure from the author of The Book of Deacon, Bypass Gemini, and Free-Wrench. It is based upon a concept and artwork by ProjectENDO. In a small town in Colorado, Markus Spiros was just getting his life on track. By day he worked as a veterinary tech, by night he took classes. His steady little routine was rolling along nicely when his impulsive Uncle Dimitrios threw a wrench in the works. Thanks to an unannounced trip, Markus had to swing by his uncle’s bistro to tend to the ‘special oven.’ When he arrived, he discovered it wasn’t the oven that was special, it was the rare and exotic egg that had been incubating inside it. And now it had hatched. Suddenly, Markus found his life had become a good deal more complicated. The creature was a Structophis Gastrignae—a strange creature that was equal parts dragon and oven—and she’d become quite a big girl. Large as a refrigerator and curious as a toddler, the creature he’d dubbed Blodgette would have been a handful in any situation. Markus had bigger problems than figuring out how to take care of her, though. Owning such a rare and special beast was illegal, so should the cops learn of it, Markus would be destined for jail. Worse, there were certain unscrupulous people who would do anything to acquire Blodgette. Now, with the help of his old classmate Gale, Markus must scramble to stay two steps ahead of the authorities and a corrupt CEO, all while being the best ‘mommy’ he can be to his brand-new pizza dragon.

The Brimstone Deception by Lisa Shearin Summary

Men in Black meets Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum in the new urban fantasy novel starring seer Makenna Fraser and her fellow agents at Supernatural Protection & Investigation. The agents of Supernatural Protection & Investigations (SPI) know that fighting evil is a full-time job, especially when a new designer drug—with mind-blowing side effects—hits the streets... It’s called Brimstone. And after the first few hits, you’ll see every supernatural beast sharing the sidewalk, train, or office with you. After that, you’ll start seeing the really scary stuff. I’m Makenna Fraser, seer for the SPI. And the collateral damage caused by Brimstone is something I’d like to unsee: dead drug dealers missing their hearts—and souls. Because your local pusher doesn’t stand a chance against the new cartel muscling its way into New York. And since the drug can only be produced with magic and molten brimstone fresh from Hell, that means a rift to the underworld is open somewhere in the city. And when—not if—the cartel loses control of it, well... It’s going to be Hell on earth.

Bruce Lee by Matthew Polly Summary

“The first noteworthy treatment of its subject—and a definitive one at that...Fascinating narrative threads proliferate” (The New York Times Book Review). The most authoritative biography—featuring dozens of rarely seen photographs—of film legend Bruce Lee, who made martial arts a global phenomenon, bridged the divide between Eastern and Western cultures, and smashed long-held stereotypes of Asians and Asian-Americans. Forty-five years after Bruce Lee’s sudden death at age thirty-two, journalist and bestselling author Matthew Polly has written the definitive account of Lee’s life. It’s also one of the only accounts; incredibly, there has never been an authoritative biography of Lee. Following a decade of research that included conducting more than one hundred interviews with Lee’s family, friends, business associates, and even the actress in whose bed Lee died, Polly has constructed a complex, humane portrait of the icon. Polly explores Lee’s early years as a child star in Hong Kong cinema; his actor father’s struggles with opium addiction and how that turned Bruce into a troublemaking teenager who was kicked out of high school and eventually sent to America to shape up; his beginnings as a martial arts teacher, eventually becoming personal instructor to movie stars like James Coburn and Steve McQueen; his struggles as an Asian-American actor in Hollywood and frustration seeing role after role he auditioned for go to a white actors in eye makeup; his eventual triumph as a leading man; his challenges juggling a sky-rocketing career with his duties as a father and husband; and his shocking end that to this day is still shrouded in mystery. Polly breaks down the myths surrounding Bruce Lee and argues that, contrary to popular belief, he was an ambitious actor who was obsessed with the martial arts—not a kung-fu guru who just so happened to make a couple of movies. This is an honest, revealing look at an impressive yet imperfect man whose personal story was even more entertaining and inspiring than any fictional role he played onscreen.

Dragon Archer by Lisa Blackwood Summary

When a fierce huntress adept with a longbow meets a fire-breathing dragon, enough sparks fly to start an inferno. Warrior-Priestess Rhavana of High Rock owes her freedom to Seira of Blackstone and Crown Prince Toryn of the centaurs, so when duty requires them to journey into the homeland of the dragons in order to discover how deep the soul-mage conspiracy runs, Rhavana joins them. Trouble meets them at the border in the form of a big red dragon calling himself Kolaith. He demands one of the warrior-priestesses stay behind and aid him in tracking and reclaiming his sister’s soul from the soul-mages. Otherwise, he’ll chase them all out of dragon territory before they can carry out their mission. Rhavana suggests a centaur for their superb tracking skills, but Kolaith won’t be swayed. He wants a warrior-priestess. Sensing how stubborn the dragon is and knowing they don’t have time to do a lengthy political dance with a dragon, Rhavana volunteers to stay behind and help track the soul-mages even though she knows the dragon is omitting something. It isn’t until the rest of the party moves deeper into dragon territory, leaving Rhavana with the dragon, that she discovers what else Kolaith didn’t say. It’s not just his sister’s soul he wants to save—it’s her clutch of soon-to-hatch eggs. The big red dragon is determined to reclaim the eggs and raise them himself. But the dragonets will need a mother’s magic and love, and Kolaith has decided Rhavana will make a perfect mate for him and mother to the little ones. Rhavana likes her newly restored freedom too much to simply capitulate and become a mate or a mother at the snap of some big scaly lizard’s fingers. That he shifts into one of the comeliest men she’s ever seen won’t influence her resolve at all. Not at all. And once they’ve hunted down and destroyed the soul-mages, rescued the clutch of eggs, and freed the soul of Kolaith’s sister, Rhavana plans to return to her own land. But unbeknownst to Rhavana, Kolaith is in love, and a dragon in love is a very dangerous thing. The Dragon's Footprints by Alex He Summary

The Dragon’s Footprints: China in the Global Economic Governance System under the G20 Framework examines China’s participation in the G20; its efforts to increase its prestige in the international monetary system through the internationalization of its currency, the renminbi; its role in the multilateral development banks — the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank; and its involvement in global trade governance, in light of the dazzling growth its economy has experienced since its ascension to the World Trade Organization in 2001. Clearly, China has its own views on how to engage with governance bodies and what benefits it expects to reap from its participation in global economic governance. There is no doubt that China is leaving its footprint on many aspects of the international financial system through its growing engagement with and greater integration into the global economy. The Dragon’s Footprints provides an in-depth discussion of what China has gained and learned from this experience and considers the implications for its foreign policy and future economic development.

Enter the Dragon by Domenico Lombardi,Hongying Wang Summary

China has experienced a remarkable transformation since the 1990s. It now boasts the second-largest — some would argue the largest — economy in the world, having evolved from a closed economy into the leading goods-trading nation. China’s economic rise has given it increasing prominence in international monetary and financial governance, but it also exposes China to new risks associated with its integration into the global financial system. Drawing insights from economics and political science, Enter the Dragon: China in the International Financial System takes a broad conceptual approach and tackles the questions that accompany China’s ascendance in international finance: What are the motivations and consequences of China’s effort to internationalize the renminbi? What is the political logic underlying China’s foreign financial policy? What forces have shaped China’s preferences and capacities in global financial governance? Enter the Dragon contributes to the ongoing debate over China’s political interests, its agenda for economic and financial cooperation, and the domestic and international implications of its economic rise. Bringing together experts from both inside and outside of China, this volume argues that China’s rise in the international financial system is a highly complex and political process, and can only be understood by incorporating analysis of domestic and international political economy.

C-O-V-I-D, The Biggest Conspiracy in History by Frederick Guttmann Summary

Have you ever wondered ...? Why did the first cases of an apparent new “flu-pneumonia” also appear in the same cities where the 5G antennas were activated? Why was the study of other possibilities of non-viral origin not accepted as the cause of the symptoms, nor was it allowed to give opinions to scientists or doctors in televised debates? Why were healthy people forced into their homes? Why did they send the population to wear masks instead of fresh air to boost their immune systems? Why were they told to distance themselves instead of allowing herd immunization? Why did George Soros invested 18 billion dollars in promoting anti-covid measures in almost every country in the world? Why do you censor any opinion that contradicts the official version? Why is WHO 73% funded by Rockefeller bankers? Why do governments only promote the solution of vaccines, and their agreements with pharmaceutical companies, and the scientific opinion of the alkalization of the body is not accepted? Why do you ask for PCR tests if the polymerase tests do not detect viruses but the person's own microbiota? How can there be a vaccine if the virus has never been isolated (nor is there a single photomicrograph of it)? How do you know that people die of such a virus if autopsies are not done to determine the causes? What are they really not telling us? This book presents ample scientific evidence and classified documents on a globalist Agenda that seeks to establish a new Nazism worldwide, where technology and the police state serve the benefit of an elite that controls governments, corporations and banks. You will know, not only who is behind, but step by step all the guidelines that they will carry out and how you can escape from their network.

Conspiracies of Conspiracies by Thomas Milan Konda Summary

It’s tempting to think that we live in an unprecedentedly fertile age for conspiracy theories, with seemingly each churn of the news cycle bringing fresh manifestations of large-scale paranoia. But the sad fact is that these narratives of suspicion—and the delusional psychologies that fuel them—have been a constant presence in American life for nearly as long as there’s been an America. In this sweeping book, Thomas Milan Konda traces the country’s obsession with conspiratorial thought from the early days of the republic to our own anxious moment. Conspiracies of Conspiracies details centuries of sinister speculations—from antisemitism and anti-Catholicism to UFOs and reptilian humanoids—and their often incendiary outcomes. Rather than simply rehashing the surface eccentricities of such theories, Konda draws from his unprecedented assemblage of conspiratorial writing to crack open the mindsets that lead people toward these self-sealing worlds of denial. What is distinctively American about these theories, he argues, is not simply our country’s homegrown obsession with them but their ongoing prevalence and virulence. Konda proves that conspiracy theories are no harmless sideshow. They are instead the dark and secret heart of American political history—one that is poisoning the bloodstream of an increasingly sick body politic.

Homer Lea by Lawrence M. Kaplan Summary

As a five-feet-three-inch hunchback who weighed about 100 pounds, Homer Lea (1876--1912), was an unlikely candidate for life on the battlefield, yet he became a world-renowned military hero. Homer Lea: American Soldier of Fortune paints a revealing portrait of a diminutive yet determined man who never earned his valor on the field of battle, but left an indelible mark on his times. Lawrence M. Kaplan draws from extensive research to illuminate the life of a "man of mystery," while also yielding a clearer understanding of the early twentieth-century Chinese underground reform and revolutionary movements. Lea's career began in the inner circles of a powerful Chinese movement in San Francisco that led him to a generalship during the Boxer Rebellion. Fixated with commanding his own Chinese army, Lea's inflated aspirations were almost always dashed by reality. Although he never achieved the leadership role for which he strived, he became a trusted advisor to revolutionary leader Dr. Sun Yat-sen during the 1911 revolution that overthrew the Manchu Dynasty. As an author, Lea garnered fame for two books on geopolitics: The Valor of Ignorance, which examined weaknesses in the American defenses and included dire warnings of an impending Japanese-American war, and The Day of the Saxon, which predicted the decline of the British Empire. More than a character study, Homer Lea provides insight into the establishment and execution of underground reform and revolutionary movements within U.S. immigrant communities and in southern China, as well as early twentieth-century geopolitical thought.

The Woman and the Dragon by David Lindsey Summary

Time and again, God has sent Mary to earth to warn us about punishments to come. Here, the author details the history and prophecies surrounding Mary's major appearances, including: o Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mexico 1531 o Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal: Paris, France 1830 o Our Lady of Lourdes: France 1858 o Our Lady of the Rosary: Ftima, Portugal 1917 o The Queen of Peace: Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina 1981-present. Many of Mary's messages foretold what are now elements of our past: the world wars, the rise of communism, the suffering of Pope John Paul II. They also foresee what is still to come: the chastisement, the Antichrist, and the Second Coming. To prepare for these events, Mary suggests praying, heeding her warnings, and following her advice-"Let your only instruments always be love. By love turn everything into good which Satan desires to destroy and possess."

Armageddon's Glorious End by David R. Manzano Summary

This latest contribution to the understanding of the Bible’s final book will be a welcomed addition to anyone’s personal library. The author is quick to admit that Revelation has many strange images and perplexing elements. However, he is just as quick to stress that these images and elements are not the focus. The Apostle John, in writing this apocalyptic volume, centers the attention on Jesus Christ, the only hope for those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior, as well as those who still need to. Many people know Revelation for its striking, confusing symbolism. Many of these people would experience less confusion if they realized that most of these symbols are borrowed by the beloved disciple from other parts of the Bible. Manzano is faithful and responsible in allowing the Bible to interpret itself and establishing the Old Testament, especially the book of Daniel, as the foundation for decoding Revelation’s “mysteries.” As Bible prophecy continues to unfold, and this world continues to unravel like a cheap sweater, the frustration and turmoil that ensues will dissipate by the encouraging tone of this book. Readers are subsequently prompted to dive into Revelation and study afresh to reconnect with the Lamb/King around whom its messages revolve.

Conspiracy Theories by Aaron John Gulyas Summary

Narratives based on conspiratorial and paranoid thinking have become increasingly prominent throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. From the prosaic to the outlandish, conspiracy theories involve aliens and Nazis, underground bases and mind control technology. They range from sinister tales of malevolent reptilian beings infiltrating our government to fears of the New World Order rounding up patriotic Americans and putting them into internment camps. These stories and their underlying concerns have a long history in the U.S. and have often been bolstered by revelations of real conspiracies and cover-ups by private and public entities. This book examines conspiracy theories and the narratives constructed by those who believe and propagate them, providing a unique view of U.S. history and highlighting fears both founded and unfounded.
